Quiet or Silent Move

That is the negative thought about the situation in relation to my action revoking my endorsement to a promotion proposal a week ago.

In my opinion, the criteria or procedure of promoting a staff in middle management has to be very careful and stringent. The staff in middle management is a selected people for company leader succession.

There are some minimal requirement that needs to be in place :

1.  The Job description and job evaluation to the position so, the Hay point is established for the position. Also the job description of the superior of this position and its subordinates. The strutural relationship of the job description has to be clear.
2. The quality and the career potential of the candidate that can be inferred from the assesment center.
3. Performance of the candidate in the last 3 years.
4. Education level of the candidate.

The last Lunch at Larnaca, Cyprus

It was in a hurry. We got only limited time to catch the flight back to Jakarta. But we still had a time to have a great lunch in the Larnaca beach in Cyprus.

The meal in Cyprus always very big one for Indonesian people like me. I ordered a grilled pork  with fried potatoes at an Italian restaurant.

The Mosque of Sultan Tekke in Larnaca, Cyprus

Hala Sultan Tekke or the Mosque of Umm Haram (Turkish: Hala Sultan Tekkesi) is a very prominent Muslim shrine near Larnaca, on the island of Cyprus. Umm Haram (Turkish: Hala Sultan) was the Islamic prophet Muhammad's wet nurse and the wife of Ubada bin al-Samit.^{[citation needed]}

Hala Sultan Tekke complex is composed of a mosque, mausoleum, minaret, cemetery, and living quarters for men and women. The termtekke (convent) applies to a building designed specifically for gatherings of a Sufi brotherhood, or tariqa, and may have referred to an earlier feature of the location. The present-day complex, open to all and not belonging to a single religious movement, lies in a serene setting on the shores of the Larnaca Salt Lake, which appears to be an important site also in prehistory. Hala Sultan Tekke is a listed Ancient Monument.( Source from Wikipedia ) 

In the Larnaca we did the city tour using the open bus. One of the place I visited was the Mosque of Hala Sultan Tekke nearby the Salt lake in Larnaca.

Mosque Hala Sultan Tekke is an Islamic shrine, unusual in that it is dedicated to a woman, built between 1760-1796. Overlooking the Salt Lake of Larnaka, where flamingoes stop en route from Africa in spring and autumn, it is a peaceful, beautiful spot for a mosque.

The woman in question was Umm Haram, aunt of an associate of the Prophet Mohammed, who was thrown from her mule and died here in 649 during the first Arab invasion of Cyprus. A place of pilgrimage for Muslims, the building did not actually become a site of veneration until the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus in 1571.

The mosque is an important place of Muslim pilgrimage, ranking immediately after the shrines of Mecca, Medina and Al Aqsha in Jerusalem.

Archaeologists think that in ancient times the site was originally a temple to Artemis, founded where the important commodity of salt was manufactured.

A Hectic Day in Nicosia

Today was a very hectic day like a hell in Nicosia, Cyprus. I felt very weak, tired of not enough sleep and stresful. In the afteroon when I was asked to join the dinner, I was still very-very tired.

Finally we submitted the bids for two block in Cyprus after a long and stresful work since yesterday afternoon.

Exploration Concepts and Program in Block 2
Objective : to find the best location for exploration drilling in Block 2
Our review during the data room came up with the hydrocarbon resources of 7.7 Tcf in Block 2 that come from at least three identified leads . The leads has to be upgraded to drillable prospect, then further need to be drilled and tested.

The current 2D seismic density is not sufficient to determine the best drilling location safely. Additional 2D Seismic seismic data is required to improve the current seismic data of 5 km by 5 km to the the average of 2 km by 2 km, then we can find more leads and mature the prosepect.
Since there is no well data in the area, we will maximise the use of advance seismic attribute such as pre-stack attribute ( Amplitude Variation with Offset ) and post stack seismic attribute as well as seismic inversion and modeling.

Since the exploration plays consist of clastic and carbonate sedimentary, 3D seismic acqusition is anticipated to be acquired over the identified leads. 2D and 3D seismic acquisition and processing parameter will be directed to produce interpretable seismic section and able to construct a reliable velocity model for time to depth conversion, seismic attribute extraction and overpressure prediction.
A further continual integrated geophysic and geology evaluation will see if the data is sufficient to pick drilling location.

A combination of two exploration block in one operator, such as block 9 and 2 will be beneficial to Government and contractor. This will make the subsurface study and exploitation to be more efficient.
The above exploration concepts will be carried out during the 3 sub-period of exploration in the following table.

Arrived at Larnaca Cyprus

Sunday, May 5, 2012,  afternoon around  one o'clock we arrived at Larnaca Airport. From here we went to Nicosia.

We Got The Visa to Cyprus

That was Friday morning, May the 4th 2012. I had not got enough sleep last night. I was on the way to my office. Early morning. In my car, I was checking several time my email on my BlackBerry. I was waiting for the decision of my board director, who are the team to go for the Cyprus business opportunity review.

Finally I got the decision on my BlackBerry. The team consist of myself, a geologist and a business development specialist. It was very tiny team for such a big project. An exploration opportunity in offshore Cyprus. Yesterday afternoon until late last night I struggled to a reasonable team for this project. A geophysicist, a geologist, a petroleum engineer, a facilities engineer, an economist and a business development specialist. But, they gave me only a geologist and a business development specialist and I was the team leader.
